Ericsson BSS GTAC Engineer

The Access O&M Engineer should be well acquainted & familiar with:
• Good knowledge of mobile telephony Traffic scenario (GSM & UMTS)
• Extensive knowledge of BSS Network Signaling protocol (BSSAP,LAPD)
• Moderate knowledge of Core Network SS7 signaling protocol (BSSAP,MAP,ISUP)
• Moderate knowledge of Core network Signaling routing (SCCP, MTP).
• Good troubleshooting experience on APG40/APZ212 30 & 33 and IOG20.
• Good knowledge of Site integration and Trouble shooting of problems.
• Good Knowledge of OSS applications such as CHA, CNA, BSM, PMR and SMIA.
• STC Methods and Procedures
• Coordinate with O&M staff and Other O&M Groups in the district for the resolution of any Access related problems.
• Play active role on Corrective Maintenance and also Preventive Maintenance.
• Participate in the PAT of New/Expansion projects.
• Perform On Call & Emergency duties and will be readily available to carryout such duties when ever required.
• Responsible to Notify District O&M Management and if necessary other concern managers and departments as soon as complain received for major network faults and major incidents in the network.
• Provide on the job training to STC field staff (Knowledge transfer).Main Duties, Tasks & Interfaces:
• Ensure the prompt resolution of service affecting & non service affecting problems on Access Network, within the specific period of time.
• Ensure that O&M preventive maintenance schedules are completed as planed.
• Ensure that all assign duties (O&M supervisor) are completed as planed.
• Provide 2nd level O&M (Hardware & Software) for GSM
• BSC and RBS support: Emergency exchange stoppage handling, all kinds of CP/IOG/APG40 troubleshooting, etc.• Subscriber complains handling.
• Solving escalated problems form GNNCC via RTTS system.
• Integration support: Health check of new Integrated Sites and new BSCs.
• Providing technical support for integrating any new services/projects.
• Providing technical support for other departments in STC for any technical issues related to Ericsson nodes as Engineering, Performance, Quality, and Customer Care.
• Providing technical support for inter-working problems with other vendors.
• Providing second line and 24-hour support for all Ericsson nodes (BSC/RBS) escalated from NMC surveillance & Field Engineers.
• Create CSR & follow up, troubleshooting the problem etc.
• Following up the upgrades for all BSS nodes, and performing network general tests after implementation in the pilot node.
• Periodic auditing for the network performance through statistics and Preventive Maintenance.
• Providing technical training for local staff.
• Making operational standards and procedures, supervised daily operations and maintenance of different node/hardware types.
• Preparation of contingency plans for special occasions, and emergency situations.
• Working with performance group for enhancing the network performance as Changing Radio Parameters via PCRs.
• Definition of statistics files, measurement programs and demand reports on all BSS nodes.
• Serve as interface to product and technical managers regarding product issues, i.e. capacity requirements, product upgrades, etc.
• Provide quick temporary solution to prevent service loss in emergency situations.
Accountability:
• Service as impacted by activities under his direct control.
• Physical condition of the Access equipment.
• Access Network Performance as measure against company benchmarks.
• Adherence to STC & Network Operation policies.
• Develop and motivate other staff within the section.
Expected Key Results:
• Meet company targets for fault clearing time of service affected / non service affected problems.• Maintain Access performance standards and meet the objectives.
• All sites within his jurisdiction meet EOP requirements.• Execute on the job training schedules as planed.
Education:
• Telecommunication / Electronics or Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering (Bsc Eng.) Degree from recognized University or equivalent thereof.
• Fluency in English/Arabic (Speaking, Reading and writing)
Experience:
• 4 years or more experience on O&M activities in the Access technology related networks.
• Moderate knowledge of different vendor BSS equipments.
• Minimum Requirement level of courses related to GSM and AXE Platform.
